Glider Recliner - Shopping Guide
Everybody knows the word "Lazy Boy" or just plain recliner but you didn't know that the actual term used for
these comfortable chairs that your Dad has in your TV or living room is a glider recliner.
They are probably the most comfortable chair in the world just because they are usually made of soft fabric or
leather and is luxuriously cushioned that when you are sitting on it, you will just be enveloped in comfort. Well,
that is just how I feel when I sit on my glider recliner or my Lazy Boy.
If you are looking in buying one, you need to check out your local furniture stores or even your big box stores
first. I like Sams Club, because they usually have several in display that you can try and as to prices, they are
also hard to beat and also if you want the recliner already, if they have one in stock, then you can already take
it home. Comparing it to your local furniture store, they will have a lot more in display that you can try on plus
they carry different brands and more choices to consider but most of the time, they will need to order it and you
will have to wait for a week to a month. Then, you can also browse and purchase one online but you will not be able
to see and try it first hand. You have to weigh your options on how you want to purchase your glider recliner and
hopefully will not have to pay a premium price for it.
In buying your glider recliner, you have to take into account the following so as to get the best possible
recliner for you:
1. Decide first if you want fabric or leather. If you want fabric, make sure that it is at
least treated so that it will be stain resistant. You will definitely have messes on this chair and it would be
nicer if the cushions themselves are removable and washable. If you pick leather, then basically it is already
stain and water proof and I like the distressed look of the leather when you wear it out. You still need a leather
cleaner and conditioner though especially on the head area. If you are like me that put something on my hair like
gel, mousse, pomade, there will be residue on that area and needs to be cleaned occasionally.
2. Look at the features like if it is a manual or push button recline, if you are like my Dad
that have problems on sit to stand, a powered glider recliner with stand assist is a necessity for him, if not, he
will just stay in the recliner because he will not be able to stand up without help. A stand assist option will
raise your recliner and tilt it forward allowing you to stand up with little to no help.
3. Check to see if the recliner is built with durability in mind. Make sure that the
workmanship and the materials used in making the chair are good enough that will ensure long years of service.
4. Check the brand. You will have a peace of mind if the recliner chair you have was made by a
well known brand like Lazy Boy or Lane. It will also give you the assurance of a quality build and if not, customer
service will not be a hassle and they will take care of you at the soonest time possible.
In conclusion, check with your local furniture first and see which brand and style you want for a glider
recliner. Keep note of the price and look online and see if you can find a better deal and also take into
account the price of shipping. These chairs are heavy and mostly will be shipped freight and will have a
significant shipping time. Or you can always haggle the price on your local stores especially if you want the floor
model or any other styles that were discontinued and discounted.
